Background and experience
Before freelancing with SFLG, Katharine worked for four years in advocacy and communications for The Leprosy Mission England and Wales (TLMEW).
It was there that she encountered SFLG through its joint advocacy initiative with other UK leprosy charities. The initiative targeted the UK government for investment in and awareness of leprosy. The approach, spearheaded by SFLG's Chair, Michael Forbes Smith, was ultimately thwarted by COVID-19.
Before working for TLMEW, Katharine worked for ILEP (the anti-leprosy federation) in Geneva. Prior to working with ILEP, she worked in PR and communications for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.
Katharine entered the world of Wills and estate planning in 2013 after a four year stint working in the pharmaceutical industry. A neighbour introduced her to the Will Writing Company where she worked for several years in estate planning. During this time, she advised many clients and took hundreds of instructions for Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and trusts. She returned to this area of the law in 2021, working with Your Legacy Solutions to offer free Wills to SFLG's supporters. She says:

We are so close to seeing an end to leprosy in our lifetime, but we are not there yet. It might only take one legacy to secure the victory over this ancient and terrible disease. Please help us to do just that.
Katharine lives in North Norfolk and is married to the musician, Mark Jones. During her spare time, she loves singing in the local church choir, chamber opera group and choral society.
