Director

Katharine Jones was appointed Director of St Francis Leprosy Guild on 15 May 2024 at SFLG's AGM. She is responsible for SFLG's day-to-day operations, overseeing programmes, fundraising, budgeting, and accounts. She has a special interest in reporting.

Katharine is a communications specialist and has worked with St Francis Leprosy Guild since 2021. She has designed and developed SFLG's website, newsflow, and PR.
Background and experience
Before working with SFLG, Katharine worked for four years in advocacy and communications at The Leprosy Mission England and Wales (now TLM GB). At The Leprosy Mission, she encountered SFLG through its joint advocacy initiative with other leprosy NGOs. The initiative targeted the UK government for investment in and awareness of leprosy. The approach, spearheaded by SFLG's former Chair, Michael Forbes Smith, was ultimately thwarted by COVID-19.

Before working for The Leprosy Mission, Katharine worked for ILEP (the anti-leprosy federation) in Geneva. Before working with ILEP, she worked in PR and communications for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry for 20 years.
Katharine is a Christian. She lives in North Norfolk and is married to the musician and conductor, Mark Jones. During her spare time, Katharine is a chorister at Holt St Andrew and Hindringham St Martin church choirs. She is Chair of North Norfolk Chamber Opera and one of its principal singers. She is treasurer and trustee of Upper Sheringham, Village Hall Committee.
