St Francis Leprosy Guild (SFLG) is a UK-based, Catholic charity that is working towards a leprosy-free world.
We support over 40 leprosy projects and centres in 15 countries worldwide to play our part in caring for those affected by the disease. We fund research, hospitals, rehabilitation centres and active case-finding projects to diagnose leprosy before it causes disability. We believe that a leprosy-free world is finally within sight; if not today, then soon. We are determined to build on our 125-year legacy, working to end the suffering caused by leprosy. Will you join us? |
We are looking for two exceptional individuals to join our Board of Trustees.
Trustee - Chair
SFLG's current Chair, of the Board of Trustees, Michael Forbes Smith, will retire in May 2023. We need a new Chair to takeover the role of Chair next year and who is willing to serve for five years. We anticipate a handover phase of around one year.
SFLG has an Executive Team comprising a full-time Chief Executive Officer, a Finance Manager, a Programme Manager and a part-time Administrator. The Chair and Trustees provide oversight of the Executive Team, contribute to the development and implementation of our strategies, but have no executive functions.
The Board of Trustees normally meets six times a year. Currently half these meetings are held virtually and the remainder take place in London. The Grants Sub-Committee meets as required to consider applications for grants, research and case-finding projects.
The new Chair will join us at an exciting time in our history when we are actively seeking out and treating people with leprosy, to end the disease for good.
