annual review 2022

Picture
Michael Forbes Smith - trustee and former Chair
2022 was a year of significant accomplishment and change for the Guild.

We raised considerable funds through our Nepal and Uganda campaigns thanks to the generosity of our donors. We received a record number of seven generous legacies. We increased our TRACE expenditure and activities and now operate in fourteen countries worldwide including Ghana. We announced some exciting preliminary  data from our Active Case-Finding programme which resulted in the addition of three new projects. We also welcomed three new members to the Executive Team.

All in all, it was quite an exceptional year. I hope that you will enjoy reading more about it in our Annual Review for 2022. If you have any questions or would like a print copy, please get in touch. MFS

Apology from MFS

In his farewell message in our last Annual Review, Michael Forbes Smith omitted one of the most important groups to whom he owed heartfelt thanks for their support of the Guild during his time as chair.  These were the Guild’s two successive administrators, Therese Marcelle, who died tragically on 1st August 2017, and Sheila Pereira, who worked tirelessly well beyond the call of duty from 2018 until her retirement in 2022.  He now sends his unreserved thanks and gratitude, and those of the Guild, for their service and dedication. The Pereira family also deserve special thanks; Sheila’s sister Suneila acted as our Support Services Consultant at a time when we were particularly hard pressed and their parents were also continually supportive of their efforts.  Many, many thanks to all.
