our christmas appeal 2024 for nigeria

A time of giving and compassion

As Christmas approaches, I've been reflecting on the spirit of giving and compassion that defines this time of year. These thoughts are particularly poignant for me as I have just returned from a field visit to our two wonderful centres in Nigeria. I was struck by the knowledge and skill of the staff, who give so much, with so little - always with kindness and compassion.

St Francis Leprosy Guild was founded nearly 130 years ago to care for people with leprosy by providing treatment and support for those with the disease and surgery and rehabilitation for the disabilities it causes.

A future with hope and dignity

You have generously supported us already and I cannot thank you enough.

But could I ask you to please support us again, to give hope to those in need this season, particularly the patients and families at our two dedicated centres in Nigeria. This Christmas, your generous gift could directly impact the lives of those we care for.

Your support will help us supply essential medicines, wound care materials, and nutritious food for our patients. Each contribution helps restore health, dignity and hope to those who have been marginalised by society.

At St Benedict’s, our dedicated team focuses on rehabilitation and vocational training, empowering individuals to reintegrate into their communities. This Christmas, your donations could fund skills training programmes that enable our residents to find meaningful work and rebuild their lives.

As you gather with loved ones this Christmas, please remember those who are still waiting for a chance at a better life. Your support can bring healing and hope to our care centres in Nigeria. Thank you for your compassion and commitment to making a difference. Wishing you and your family a blessed Christmas and a joyful New Year!" With heartfelt gratitude, Charlotte John, Programmes Manager
