SFLG celebrates its 127th anniversary We hosted our Annual Assembly and Reception on Friday 4 November, at Farm Street Church in Mount Street, London, W1. During the Assembly, Michael Forbes Smith, KHS, Chair of the trustees, presided on behalf of St Francis Leprosy Guild. Lord, we remember the many people around the world afflicted by leprosy. May we follow the example of your Son, Jesus, and St Francis of Assisi and show them love and compassion. We pray that they may be freed from the disease and its stigma. We give thanks for those who have been cured. We remember those who are permanently marked by the disease and all who care for them. We give thanks for every Catholic nun who is caring for people with leprosy. We pray that you will bless them with all that they need to serve those in their care and sustain them in their mission. Amen. |

Alarming reports from Zimbabwe - leprosy numbers on the rise Fifteen new cases of leprosy have been detected in 2020, most in Binga District, Matabeleland North Province. Over the past five years, Zimbabwe has been recording lower numbers, between five and ten new cases per year. Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Dr Nicholas Siziba conceded that the country needs to work harder on improving case detection and early diagnosis.
