The man featured here on our home page has Leprosy.

We do not often present you with such a challenging
picture, but the good news is that with treatment and help, his face, with the remarkable steady gaze of his eyes, will by now have returned to normal.

Promoting the Guild through 2007-2008

Once again we should like thank all those generous supporters who have contributed in so many ways to promoting the work of St Francis Leprosy Guild.

Fundraising has taken place in the form of church appeals and collections, parish and Franciscan Third Order activities, like bring-and-buys, and schools have played their part.

In particular we congratulate students from St Paul 's Catholic College , Sunbury who raised £2,000. They selected the Guild as their Lenten charity after Veronica Melia, a member of our Executive Committee, spoke at a Year 8 Assembly and explained our work.

Students took part in a 5 mile sponsored walk around the nearby race course, Kempton Park . They seem to have enjoyed themselves.

DID YOU RUN FOR THE GUILD?

This year we undertook a new venture: the British 10k London Run on Sunday 6 July. Volunteers took part to make up our team of 12 runners. Sightseeing was a bonus along the route and there were plenty of onlookers to cheer us on our way.

The race started at Hyde Park, went along the embankment as far as Tower Bridge, past landmarks such as Big Ben and the London Eye. A fabulous day out and with the sponsership of our volunteers we raised much needed funds for the Guilds work.
